The Franklin Pierce University Spirit Program is an inclusive organization committed to providing all members with excellent collegiate cheer and dance experience. The program welcomes and embraces student-athletes from all backgrounds and experience levels to become valued and integral team members through structured training, discipline, and instruction. With the support of FPU Athletics, this program will create opportunity for all whether that be on the sidelines, or on the competition floor.
Audition Process
The FPU Cheerleaders will have both a sideline and competitive option. While all skill levels are welcome for sideline cheer, competition team members need to be able to demonstrate a particular skillset (see table below).
We strongly encourage participation in an evaluation clinic to prepare for tryouts. These clinics will allow prospective team members prep their skills and receive feedback from the coaches to help ensure the athlete has best material prepared.
The cost of an audition clinic is $25/pp.
The Auditions
In order to audition, all athletes must have submitted an application to FPU.
Prospective cheerleaders will be required to perform a cheer and dance. Here is a link to the materials:
We will be assessing the following additional skills:
Skill
Requirement
Tumbling
FPU competitive cheerleaders should be able to demonstrate technical aptitude in any tumbling skill they chose to perform during tryouts. At least 1 running and 1 standing pass must be submitted.
Jumps
Coaches will evaluate jump height, flexibility, and landing with feet together in complex jump combinations.
Stunts
Being able to stunt with multiple partners is a must and cheerleaders should be able to perform a two-part stunt combination. FPU coaches will also look at tosses. Prospective cheerleaders can send videos of any game day stunts their school performs and pyramids. Please make sure to indicate who you are in any video submission.
Dance
FPU coaches are looking for an entertaining dancer with strong motions and a confident performance.
Cheers
Coaches evaluate a recruit’s cheer performance, from voice projection to proper motion technique.
There is a $25 audition fee.
